About

Mooi is Dutch for beautiful.

It is also, more or less, the family business — a Dutch name, a Dutch stubbornness about doing things properly, and Wynbergs making landscapes since the 1970s.

The short version

Twenty years in the family business, then a decision to go back to the drawing board.

Wynbergs have been making landscapes since the 1970s, so Joe grew up in it. His father started his own company in 1999; Joe worked in it for two decades and ran it on his own from 2019. Somewhere in there the job turned into schedules, invoices and equipment finance, and less and less of the part he actually got into it for.

Mooi Landscapes started in 2025 to fix that. It is deliberately built around the work rather than the machinery: sit down with a homeowner, understand how they want to use the space, draw it properly, price it honestly, and then build it. Design on its own is available too, for homeowners who want drawings and a plant schedule without a crew attached.

Two decades of hardscape, plus a serious side in carpentry — framing, trim, cabinetry — means outdoor structures do not get subbed out and mangled. Pergolas, screens, benches and outdoor kitchens are built by the same hands that set the stone.

Lives outside Moncton on a hundred acres with a barn, nine horses, two donkeys, three dogs and a blended family of six. Golf when there is time. Believes a yard should be built for a Tuesday evening, not for a photograph.

How we work

Four things we will not trade away.

Draw it first

A pencil line is cheaper to change than a patio.

Nothing gets ordered off a napkin sketch. You see a measured plan and a priced take-off before a machine moves.

Build the base

The parts you never see decide how long it lasts.

Depth of base, compaction in lifts, drainage, edge restraint. Skipping any of it saves a day now and costs a rebuild in six years.

Say it plainly

If something on your wish list is a bad idea here, we say so.

A cedar hedge in that wind, a patio at that grade, a plant that hates that soil. Better an awkward hour than a dead hedge.

Come back

Handover is not the end of the relationship.

Plant warranty for a year, care visits if you want them, and the same phone number in year four.

Where

Southeastern New Brunswick, mostly within half an hour.

Construction work stays close so crews are on site rather than in traffic. Design and consulting work travels further — if you are outside the list and you want drawings, ask.
