Design, build, care — and the order matters.

A drawing without a builder is a wish. A builder without a drawing is a guess. We do all three stages so the seams between them are ours to worry about, not yours.

01 — Design

Nothing gets built here until it has been drawn, measured and priced. That is the whole difference.

We walk the property, measure it, and draw it — by hand first, then to scale. You get a plan you can hold, a plant list with real botanical names, and a material take-off so the number in front of you is the number that gets built.

Site consultation
On your property, about an hour. No charge.
Measured site plan
Drawn to scale, with grades, setbacks and what stays.
Planting plan
Species chosen for zone 4b, your light, your soil.
3D visualisation
Where it helps you decide. Not on every job.
Material take-off
Every paver, every yard of base, priced from a live catalogue.
Hand-drawn planting plan on graph paper labelled with Purple Leaf Weigela, Endless Summer Hydrangea and Goldflame Spirea
02 — Build

Two decades of frost, clay and Maritime rain have opinions about how a patio should be built. We listen to them.

Base depth, compaction, drainage and edge restraint are the parts nobody sees and the only parts that decide whether your patio is still flat in ten years. We build to that standard first and make it beautiful second — which, it turns out, is also how you get beautiful.

Patios, walkways & pool decks
Concrete pavers, slabs and natural flagstone, on a compacted base that stays flat.
Decks & stairs
Decks, stairs, railings and landings, built to meet the paving.
Block retaining walls & steps
Segmental block, engineered base, geogrid where the height calls for it.
Synthetic turf
Excavated, compacted base, drainage and seams you can't find.
Fences
Wood privacy and boundary fences, set below frost.
Fire pits & outdoor living
Fire pits, seat walls, pergolas and screens.
Boulders & water features
Placed with a machine, set by hand.
Grading & drainage
Water goes where you send it, or where it wants.
Sod, beds & planting
Amended soil, proper depth, mulched and staked.
Low-voltage lighting
So the space keeps working after nine.

03 — Care

A landscape is the only thing you buy that is supposed to look better in five years than on the day it was finished.

We come back. Beds get edged and topped up, shrubs get pruned at the right time of year rather than the convenient one, and anything we planted that does not make it through its first winter gets replaced.

Seasonal bed care
Edge, weed, mulch, feed. Spring and fall.
Pruning
Timed to the species, not to the truck schedule.
Spring & fall clean-up
Cut-back, leaf removal, bed reset.
Plant warranty
One full year on everything we install.
Renewed foundation bed in front of a house: rounded shrubs, pink flowering perennials and two boulders in black mulch, with a clean edge to the lawn
04 — Questions

The things people ask on the first visit.

What does a design cost?

The first site visit is free. Design work is quoted after that visit, based on the size of the property and how much drawing the project actually needs — a front-entry refresh is not the same job as a full rear-yard plan. The design fee is credited against the build if you go ahead with us.

How far ahead should I book?

Design work runs year-round, including through the winter — that is the right time to draw a spring build. Construction slots for a given season generally fill by early spring.

Do you work from someone else’s design?

Yes. If you already have a plan you like, we will price and build it. We will also tell you honestly if something on it will not survive a Maritime freeze-thaw cycle.

What about drainage and grading?

It is the first thing we look at and the most common reason a nice-looking landscape fails. Water gets a route off the property before anything decorative goes in.

Is there a warranty?

One full year on plant material we supply and install, and workmanship on hardscape construction. It is written into your estimate, not implied.
